In the streets of the city, what always catches my eye are those dilapidated streets. Nangang district used to be an industrial area in Taipei, and even though it has now transformed into a residential area, remnants of its past still linger. On the outskirts of Nangang, I stumbled upon a small enclave of interior design studios, where the streets are littered with construction debris and recycled materials.

However, what truly captivated me were the weathered wooden boards piled up along the roadside for many years. The texture of the woodgrain reminded me of the cracks on an eggshell, symbolizing the need for prolonged destruction before rebirth can occur. Hence, I shaped this piece like an egg and named it ”Desolation and Rebirth“.
